Renowned as one of Africa’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries, South Luangwa is home to an abundance of game, which frequent the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons. The Luangwa River is the most intact river system in Africa and is the life blood of the park's 9 050 square kilometres. South Luangwa is also the birthplace of the infamous walking safari - one of the best ways to get up-close-and-personal with the park’s pristine wilderness, which boasts 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species.
Kakuli is a seasonal camp situated at the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa Rivers. There are just five spacious tents under a shady thatch roof. All of the tents overlook the River and have en suite facilities. The chitenge overlooks the lawn leading down to the Rivers. The Camp is situated on a raised ridge, allowing extensive views of the Luangwa for up to a mile. This section of the River is also home to several hundred hippo.
