The Luangwa River is the most intact river system in Africa and is the life blood of the park's 9 050 square kilometres. South Luangwa is also the birthplace of the infamous walking safari - one of the best ways to get up-close-and-personal with the park’s pristine wilderness, which boasts 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species.
Kakuli is a seasonal camp situated at the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa Rivers. There are just five spacious tents under a shady thatch roof. All of the tents overlook the River and have en suite facilities. The chitenge overlooks the lawn leading down to the Rivers.
