Situated between Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania is Africa’s third largest and second deepest lake, Lake Malawi (also known as Lake Nyasa). The eighth largest lake in the world, Lake Malawi is surrounded by the scenic Rift Valley mountains. Explorer David Livingstone gave the Lake its popular nickname “Lake of Stars”, because of the twinkling lanterns used by fisherman that resembled stars from a distance. Beautiful lodges dot the Lake’s white sandy beaches where guests enjoy a wide variety of watersports, sunset cruises, snorkelling and much more.
Meaning “rest well” in the local Chichewa language, Pumulani is an intimate beach retreat overlooking Lake Malawi. The eight spacious villas, honeymoon suite and family room all blend harmoniously with the surrounding natural beauty. Each villa boasts a large bedroom with private veranda, comfortable sitting area (also with private veranda), and well-appointed bathroom.
The restaurant serves international cuisine made from fresh local ingredients, and the lakeside bar is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing sundowner in the evening. Guests can enjoy a wide array of watersports, or they can choose to do absolutely nothing at all. From sunbathing and lazing on the beach, to snorkelling and scuba diving, there is something for everyone.
