Serengeti Under Canvas Guest Stories
Tell us about your journey and your thoughts and impressions of Africa.
It is always a pleasure to receive feedback on how the &Beyond experience has touched our guests. For many of them, a life-long love affair with Africa's wide open spaces and its incredible wildlife has started at one of our lodges across the continent. Others have formed lasting friendships with the warm and welcoming &Beyonders they have met on safari. Here is just a sample of the incredible comments we have been receiving from our guests staying at Serengeti Under Canvas.
Lisa & Jason - A truly wonderful time
"As with prior visits, we had a truly wonderful time. Again our favorite part of the trip was Under Canvas, where we had new and exiting animal experiences and enjoyed our time with old and new staff there. Thank you for arranging that Cyst be our guide there. His experience as a guide makes it possible for us to see animals and action that would otherwise not be possible."
For us, and I suspect for others, our experience with &Beyond would not be the same without such experienced and personal staff. We leave Africa thinking of him as not simply our guide, but also our friend. We also had an inspirational New Year's Day breakfast out in the bush. Our chef Daniel was great, and we really enjoyed learning more about Africa and the culture with our butler Solomon and camp manager Mussa.
Tom De Tant - Getting away from it all
"Hearing the hippos, lions and monkeys in the back as you are lying in your bed is an unforgettable experience. The luxury and comfort of these lodges are incredible, and, of course, the great and friendly staff!"
An outdoor shower before going on a trip is the best, along with the animals you witness close to your tent. We're sitting here in Belgium (it's raining again), thinking about how great it was almost one year ago on our honeymoon! Big thank yous for this amazing journey! Elisabeth & Tom, Belgium
Michael Green - Migration in the middle of the night
"It is a wonderful experience to wake in the night to find oneself 'surrounded' by the Migration in the middle of the night."
Fabulous sights and sounds, and the amusement of seeing a friend throw his drink over another member of our party when 'attacked' by a larger than average bug!
Guest - Our favorite part of the trip
"&Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas was Lauren’s favorite part of the trip. We loved James and I have many great photos of him having great fun with my niece. He was so motivated and fun, and I would absolutely consider asking for him by name for a future trip. James would always say, “Be positive because you never know what’s around the corner” and most likely it was exactly what we wanted to see."
I discovered that there were actual benefits to being patient - the animal would move, you’d see an unusual behavior, there would be something very interesting we would have overlooked had we not taken time, etc. It was a fabulous life lesson. The tents were amazing and the food was also delicious. The night sky was tremendous. We loved the fire each night and the stories people told. Lauren’s favorite part was the birthday “parade” for a woman who had been staying at Under Canvas for about a month. She kept telling people later to pretend it was their birthday so she could see them sing and dance again.
Maria Decker - Serengeti standoff and football with the wildebeest
"This was a day full of drama. We checked back many times to see if the lion had captured the wildebeest for lunch. In the end, the wildebeest got away with a slight injury."
On a happier note, Didas arranged a wonderful soccer match between the Serengeti and Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp teams on the airstrip. My twins played and played well, African style, and it was a great joy to watch. Frankie and Saidi let us out of the truck to chase the wildebeest. This was a great experience for us and I hope you can see how much we would all love to go back.
