Klein's Camp Guest Stories
Tell us about your journey and your thoughts and impressions of Africa.
It is always a pleasure to receive feedback on how the &Beyond experience has touched our guests. For many of them, a life-long love affair with Africa's wide open spaces and its incredible wildlife has started at one of our lodges across the continent. Others have formed lasting friendships with the warm and welcoming &Beyonders they have met on safari. Here is just a sample of the incredible comments we have been receiving from our guests staying at Klein's Camp.
Michelle Paxton - At Klein's
"Incredible peace, view, service, food, sightings. Just amazing."

Philip Humphreys - Despite the rain!
"Rain, rain and then more rain! Yet it did not spoil the safari."
Sitting in the safari vehicle with the waterproofs on and hearing the roar of an alpha male lion close by was one of the most special experiences of our many safaris. Returning to the wonderful Klein's Camp and sharing tales of this over a very fine dinner, and then drinks and silly games which we organised with the help of the resident manager, all made this an unforgettable safari. AND we still keep in contact with the other four guests who shared our wet lion adventure!!
Sid White - Evening Safari at Klein's Camp
"Nothing can prepare the uninitiated for the experience of Klein's Camp. Situated in the northernmost portion of Tanzania, adjacent to the Kenyan border, the camp boasts one of the most spectacular views of any &Beyond location and a staff that provides unparralled service."
As the only private concession in Tanzania, your safaris take you off the road to see the abundant wildlife surrounding the camp up close and personal. Is 10 feet from a male/female lion couple close enough? Elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and almost every other imaginable creature can be seen while on these fantastic safari outings. But, as good as that sounds, the evening safari adds another unexpected, special dimension to your experience. After sunset, your driver and guide park in an open plain in the valley below the escarpment that is home to Kleins' Camp, with the moon and stars painting the night sky with a brilliant array of light. From that vantage point, you see and hear the lions roar in friendly conversation among the prides, and you hear the sounds of other wildlife awakening for their evening activities. The flashlight scans the darkness and you see hundreds of eyes looking at you, each animal recognized by the guide based on the color of the eyes alone! You see and hear all of this while you are treated to the most wonderful catered evening fare of beverages and other tantalizing treats. Yes, the safaris at Klein's Camp are exceptional. But there is nothing in this world like the evening safaris. Come to Klein's Camp and experience this other-worldly experience for yourself. We did, and we will visit our friends at Klein's Camp again very soon. Sid and Marta White
Carlos Izquierdo - Lions with champagne
"I really enjoyed being at this camp. I think the location at the top of a hill gives you an incredible view of the bush and being able to relax in the magnificent bar/lounge watching all the game below you is an incredible experience."
One day, when we arrived from our second game drive, we had a surprise in our room because of our honeymoon. &Beyond invited us to have a bottle of champagne. We sat on the terrace and opened it. When we were drinking it we could see two lions in the bush that were trying to mate, but a group of elephants was pushing them to defend their young members. It was really incredible. We could see everything sitting on our terrace and drinking champagne. It was one of the greatest moments we had during our honeymoon.
Nadja Hornek - The kill
"After staying at your beautiful lodges at Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater we spent the last nights at Klein's Camp."
We had a fantastic safari, but the most amazing thing happened on our last evening in the Serengeti: going on a late afternoon game drive we saw three male lions resting and, whilst watching them, six females came out of the bush and got ready to hunt. Finally the six lionesses and two of the males started walking up the hill and we followed them. Our guide - who was great, by the way - expected them to move towards an open space, and so we drove there and were waiting for the lions to make their way there. In the meantime we had drinks(!) - gin and tonic in the middle of the bush, under millions of stars - and then the lions came out of the bushes and moved towards a herd of wildebeest. Then all went very quickly and after a quick ride we watched one of the lionesses killing a wildebeest and the other seven joining in for dinner. The two of us were sitting in the car and couldn't believe what we were about to see, with our drinks and cameras in hand. It was absolutely amazing to be so close to these wild animals and listening to the sound. After approximately 40 minutes we made our way back to the lodge - late for dinner, but full of everlasting memories! This was the perfect ending to a perfect safari, thanks to your always friendly staff, and the spectacular nature and wildlife in Tanzania.
