Tell us about your journey and your thoughts and impressions of Africa.
It is always a pleasure to receive feedback on how the &Beyond experience has touched our guests. For many of them, a life-long love affair with Africa's wide open spaces and its incredible wildlife has started at one of our lodges across the continent. Others have formed lasting friendships with the warm and welcoming &Beyonders they have met on safari. Here is just a sample of the incredible comments we have been receiving from our guests staying at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
Yolande Naude - Ngorongoro Crater Honeymoon

NGORONGORO CRATER HONEYMOON

YOLANDE NAUDE
"A few years ago I fell in love with the pictures of the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. When I met my husband, he had never been on safari and I introduced him to it and he loved it. He bought me a book called The Hotel Book for my birthday, as Ngorongoro Crater Lodge features in the book. Needless to say, when we decided to get married, we invited 48 of our friends and all flew to Zanzibar Island for our wedding, which was simply unreal ... and, of course, we went to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge for our honeymoon!"
Such attention to detail, so many special treats - it was amazing and my best story is when I returned from a game drive and suggested that we wanted to have a drink at the lodge; our butler overheard me and suggested that we go and freshen up first. I thought maybe I needed it (ha ha), but it was a surprise ... when we entered our room our bath was full of bubbles, the fire was burning and, of course, we forgot about drinks ... it was magic.

NGORONGORO MORNING MIST

WAYNE WOODWARD
"Sitting on the balcony of the main lodge at Tree Camp at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge at dawn while the new day's sun's rays break quietly over the Crater rim, and creep with stealth and gradually highlight the mist amid the jungle and grassy knolls below on the Crater floor."
The sounds of an awakening Africa floating up from the Crater floor to rest on our ears and mingle the symphony with the aromas of wonderful local coffee beans, fresh pastries and African jams in a location that really has to be Heaven on Earth. A symphony for the senses.
Bradford Aston - Our honeymoon

OUR HONEYMOON

BRADFORD ASTON
"Valerie and I finished our African honeymoon with two days at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Coming from several days in the bush, the uniquely opulent, but environmentally appropriate, lodge was a truly magical final retreat."
I particularly remember the meals, the massages, the game drives and tip-toeing past a sleeping resident water buffalo as we made our way back to our room.
Edith Bauer - Serengeti experience

SERENGETI EXPERIENCE

EDITH BAUER
"From the moment our small six passenger plane began its descent into the Serengeti it was as though the director said "action" - there were wildebeest, giraffe and zebra everywhere. I did not expect to see animals just roaming about out in the open! From then on, every day was a "take your breath away" adventure."
The rooms at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, the most proper, professional and kind butler (wait, we have a butler?) dusting off our luggage, bringing sweet smelling, moist towels (every detail always thought out), fresh, hot tea, fabulous little chocolates stashed in a secret box by the fireplace. The door had this amazing entryway table where the butler could bring your food without even disturbing the occupants. My husband and I just walked into our room, and really just sat on the floor and looked out our window because we were just in awe of how spectacular everything was, how kind everyone was. I immediately knew I made a mistake by not staying here a week! The food, beautiful serving dishes, the helpfulness of the Maasai, the hot bath with rose petals, the generous bottles of water, the beautiful gift store and - I have not even described the Ngorongoro Crater! The ride to the Crater was so quiet at 6:00am. Our guide brought our amazing picnic breakfast and set out a large, soft blanket, we saw so many amazing birds (he, of course, knew the names of all of them and saw them hiding in places we did not know existed). We saw so many animals and the beautiful sunrise, there is not one thing a person could want for. We also were able to stay at the Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp. Amazing, amazing outdoor cooking, beautiful scenery, hippos everywhere, you could even hear them walking around the tent at night. Again, beautiful accommodation with outdoor showers, what a treat. We sat on purple velvet pillows set upon magnificent rocks for a "sundowner". Amazing gin and tonics, incredible appetizers, viewing a most amazing sunset. Another day of our amazing African journey had come to an end, I truly did not want to sleep because I did not want to miss a thing. We spent three weeks in Africa, two in and around the Serengeti and one in Zanzibar incorporating some scuba diving. Africa is truly a magic place; we will definitely be going back. Preservation, conservation is what it is all about. Thank you &Beyond for understanding this beautiful country and sharing it with conservation in mind.

STUNNED BY THE BEAUTY

JOSE CIENFUEGOS
"Waking up early and walking out to the deck of our room / home. Watching the morning fog roll down the side of the Crater, while I grab the blanket around my shoulders tighter and watch my breath in the cold jungle air. Hearing the myriad sounds of the jungle about me and smiling to myself, knowing that a place like this really exists on our planet. Put simply, stunned by the beauty of this place."
