Tell us about your journey and your thoughts and impressions of Africa.
It is always a pleasure to receive feedback on how the &Beyond experience has touched our guests. For many of them, a life-long love affair with Africa's wide open spaces and its incredible wildlife has started at one of our lodges across the continent. Others have formed lasting friendships with the warm and welcoming &Beyonders they have met on safari. Here is just a sample of the incredible comments we have been receiving from our guests staying at Phinda Private Game Reserve.

THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE

TORILD MOLAND KROGSRUD
"We absolutely ADORED Phinda. It is the most magical place I have ever been! For us, it was the mix of the wonderful setting in the forest, the great guide, yammi-yammi food, hilarious other guests in the car, and really spectacular sightings. We did the leopard-project, which really just was the most fun ever, crashing through the forest, getting stuck in holes – but at the same time it did not feel like intruding the animals or destroying the forest "
(as my previous trip to another game lodge - not yours - did. It was too much, with spotlights and chasing a leopard through the night). So for us, the mix of eco sensitivity, while still managing great sightings, was the perfect match. Come to think of it, we did see all big five at Phinda in only two days – cheetah hunt first evening, elephant of course, met lions on the road and heard them ROOOOOAR, leopards with the project and finally, the highlight for our guide, who had been trying to find black rhino for Ronny to photograph for the entire day: she succeeded at the end of the last day, and the photos are magical.
Thompson, Susan And Marcus - The Perfect Wedding

THE PERFECT WEDDING

THOMPSON, SUSAN AND MARCUS
"We visited Forest Lodge for a night in 2007 and fell in love with both the setting and the people. So a few years later, when we were trying to decide where to get married, Phinda was a natural (if a little unusual) choice. We spent 2 nights at Forest Lodge, (9th and 10th May2010), and got married in the afternoon of the second day. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Absolutely nothing was a problem for Clint and his team. It’s hard to describe our experience in just a few words. In-fact, when asked on our comment forms at the end of our stay, what the best bit was, it was impossible to pick just one. The surprise champagne and fresh waffle stop on our morning game drive? The beautiful decoration of the ceremony location in the middle of the bush? The amazing food? The informative, funny game rangers? The candle-lit bath that was waiting for us on our return from dinner? Every part of our 2-day stay was amazing and combined to make it an experience that we will never forget. "
More than the stunning scenery and unique environment, the one aspect that sets Forest Lodge so far apart from other travel experiences is the staff. Let me give you an example, It was 30minutes before I was due to leave the cabin to make my way to the ceremony, I was midway through curling my hair when there was a sudden silence. The AC died, The IPOD went silent, the lights went out, and perhaps most significantly, my electric curling tongs turned off... Power cut. (Oh dear!) Growing up in Africa I’m aware that these things happen, often at the most inconvenient of times. What I didn’t expect was the knock on the door 10minutes later and one of the girls, Del-Marie, standing there with a bottle of chilled champagne, telling me that they were doing everything they could to get the power back on.... The Staff at Forest made us feel like family. Each and every member of staff we came into contact with shared our excitement for our special day and went so far beyond the call of duty to make it incredible for us. There aren’t words enough to express our gratitude to them! A truly amazing team in a fantastic location. Thank you so much! We will be back! Regards Susan and Marcus (Thompson)
Saul Klibanow - Tracking rhinos and elephants in Phinda
TRACKING RHINOS AND ELEPHANTS IN PHINDA

SAUL KLIBANOW
"We have had the honor and privilege of visiting Africa six times over the past decade and a half."
During that time we have engaged in a variety of exciting, interesting, enlightening and simply beautiful activities, but our experience actually tracking large animals at Phinda ranks amongst the most complete. Being able to learn about tracking, to experience the intimate tales of the bush and to be guided by well trained and dedicated personnel ranks this high on my personal list.

VIEW FROM SPACE

JIMMY WRIGHT
"In 2005 we visited Phinda with friends from the US. Amongst our party was an astronaut, Patrick Forrester, and his family. We saw everything during our one night stay and they fell in love with Africa."
In 2007 we went to the launch of STS-117, Patrick's last mission. He sent us an email from the International Space Station as they were moving over South-East Africa and told me how beautiful our coastline was from space and that he was thinking of their trip to Phinda. We went to visit Phinda three weeks later, saw and experienced everything, and sent them the photos.

WONDERFUL DINNER

ANDREA TROPE
"The staff set out the most wonderful dinner, with lanterns all around the boma."
The food was fantastic - incredible butterfish - and the bar was fully stocked. The staff sang for us. It was fantastic. The previous night we had arrived back at our room to find a bubble bath run for us, with candles lit. Wonderful.
