It is always a pleasure to receive feedback on how the &Beyond
experience has touched our guests. For many of them, a life-long love
affair with Africa's wide open spaces and its incredible wildlife has
started at one of our lodges across the continent. Others have formed
lasting friendships with the warm and welcoming &Beyonders they
have met on safari. Here is just a sample of the incredible comments we
have been receiving from our guests staying at Kichwa Tembo.
Ben & Molly Lawder - Migration on my doorstep

MIGRATION ON MY DOORSTEP

BEN & MOLLY LAWDER
"Kicwha Tembo (located in the Masai Mara in Kenya) is one of the few places we have ever visited that we'd return to tomorrow if we could - its just that magical. From our guide (Mempe) to our Butler (Elias) to our room steward (Titus) to the head chef (George) everyone we met at Kichwa Tembo was wonderful, welcoming, and friendly. In all of my travels, I've never felt as "at home" as I did at Kichwa Tembo. "
The food was outstanding, the location seemed superior to any of the other camps in the Mara, and the accommodations were perfect - we loved the luxurious tents and beautiful communal spaces. The great migration is literally at the doorstep of the camp - we enjoyed cocktails while watching herds of Zebras at the pool one evening and woke up from a nap to see elephants parading by our tent one afternoon between game drives. The wildlife in the Mara was by far the best we saw in Africa (we did game drives in four countries on our trip). We saw the entire Big 5 in our first 2 hour game drive the afternoon we arrived. You just can't beat experiences like having breakfast literally in the middle of millions of wildebeests and zebras, watching lions feast on their overnight kills, or standing across the river from a family cheetahs drinking. The scenery was also breathtaking. One of the highlights of our stay at Kichwa Tembo and entire African safari was visiting a local Maasai village (actually the family of our guide). We saw where the children went to school, how the villagers lived, and how the &Beyond foundation was supporting the local woman by helping them become entrepreneurs.

ONE OF OUR PEAK EXPERIENCES

ROBERTA ELLIOTT
"We had a magical visit on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of this week. Our tour guide, James, was amazing, as was everyone else who worked with us. My husband and I have travelled a lot and I can honestly say this was one of our peak experiences. "
When we returned to Nairobi, I realized that I had left my favorite pair of earrings in our tent. I was sick! But the next morning I was able to reach Kichwa and speak to Charity. I described to her exactly where I left them, and I am most pleased to tell you that I now have the earrings back safely in my possession. Charity arranged for them to be sent by pouch to your Nairobi office and we were able to pick them up from there. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that she was willing to help me in this way. When we leave Nairobi tonight for Istanbul, I will be wearing my earrings! Thank you for hiring such excellent staff! And, by the way, while there, we asked to meet the chef because we think Kichwa Tembo has the best food in Africa!

"With staff warmer than the weather and home comforts amongst stunning animals and scenery, Kichwa Tembo Masai Mara was an unforgettable experience."
Daniel, our ranger, flawlessly told us about the animals whilst expressing his calm and endearing manner. Once, driving back to "camp" in a storm, my party and I had the pleasure of a hair raising drive (fast!), where David drove at speed to prevent us getting stuck in the mud and controlled the sliding like we were on skis! The most fun I've had on four wheels! :)

OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME

"Not being a particularly intrepid traveler but being a true animal and nature lover, I signed up to spend a small inheritance on an adventure to view wildlife and fabulous scenery in Tanzania and Kenya last summer with my family. The highlight of our experience was several unforgettable days and nights at Bateleur Camp Masai Mara."
What an incredible variety of experiences we had. We got dusty and bumped around on the "roads" around the camp, but we came back to be greeted with a special refreshing fruit juice and down filled sofas and chairs. We used the "facilities" while searching for wildlife behind the van, yet we had a beautiful stone bathroom back at the camp. We wiped dust from our faces and every facial orifice throughout the day but laid our heads down on crisp white sheets on luxurious beds. We sat on leather armchairs while warthogs wandered right underneath our feet! We left our friends far behind but made new ones wherever we went in Africa. We were far, far from home but we felt right at home at beautiful Bateleur Camp Masai Mara.

PAMPERING

ANABELA MOSKOVITZ
"The ultimate pampering and personalized attention dispensed to my husband and me was during our stay at Bateleur Camp Masai Mara."
Milka must be the creme de la creme of all the camp managers / directors EVER. Our stay was delightfully romantic, the guides were excellent and knowledgeable, every evening a different surprise awaited us at dinner, and I would love to go back just to see Milka again, though I am told that the new Kwandwe camp and the Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp are fabulous as well. (We stayed at Klein's Camp and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge last time.)
