Day 4 & 5: Hermanus

Acknowledged as the best land-based whale watching site in the world, Hermanus even has an official whale-crier. Once hunted almost to extinction, these gentle giants loll around within a stone's throw of the rocks. Originally called Hermanuspietersfontein after Hermanus Pieters, a teacher and shepherd who used to graze his sheep in the area, the town's name was shortened in 1902 at the anguished request of the local postmaster!
Unwind for two nights at a Garden Lodge with sleeper couch at the Grootbos Nature Reserve. Your stay includes welcome drinks on arrival, daily fresh fruit in your suite, breakfast, lunch, dinner, horse riding, nature trails and hiking, and nature, marine and coastal drives including the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, De Kelders cliff walk and Klipgat Cave, as well as seasonal land-based whale watching and a tailor-made children's programme.
Day 6 - 8: Garden Route
Today you will drive along the beautiful Garden Route to Plettenberg Bay.
Running along the Western Cape coast, with a ridge of quartzite mountains on the one side and a deep blue sea on the other, the Garden Route is one of the most visited areas in South Africa. From pristine white beaches, lakes and forests to navigable rivers and wild flowers in the their million, the scenery is diverse but certainly consistent in its beauty.
Spend three nights in a luxury suite with sleeper couch at Hog Hollow Country Lodge. Enjoy a quiet afternoon in your private hammock or laugh at the antics of a troop of inquisitive vervet monkeys. Your stay includes breakfast.
