Passports are required by all foreign visitors and must be valid for six months beyond the intended length of stay. Mozambique has a tropical and sub-tropical climate, but the nights can be quite chilly, especially in winter. Bring comfortable, casual and semi-casual clothes with some warm clothing for early mornings and evenings.
Can I use my credit card in Mozambique?

Credit cards are not widely accepted in Mozambique, except for some of the luxury hotels in Maputo. It is recommended that visitors use traveller’s cheques or cash. Please note that US dollar notes dated before 2003 are not accepted.
Where can I change currency?

You will be required to declare all foreign currency in any form when entering/exiting Mozambique and therefore we advise that you only change money as required. Most international airports have banks where money can be changed and facilities are usually available at reputable hotels and lodges. The unit of currency is the meticais, which is divided into 100 centavos. Foreign currency is widely accepted and prices are usually also displayed in USD.
Are there special health requirements when travelling to Mozambique?

Mozambique is situated in a malaria area and the use of malaria prophylactics is highly recommended. Vaccinations against yellow fever may also be required. Please consult your medical practitioner when planning your trip.
Is the tap water safe to drink in Mozambique?

Although all towns in Mozambique do treat their drinking water, visitors are advised to drink mineral water. All water used for brushing teeth or for drinking should be boiled or otherwise sterilised.
Will I be able to access the Internet?

Internet access is available in Mozambique, but tends to be limited to Maputo and the major resorts. You will be able to connect to the Internet in places frequented by tourists, like Inhambane, Xai-Xai and Bazaruto.
