Central Kalahari - Vast, Untouched Wilderness

The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the most scenic and unspoiled wilderness areas on the continent. It is the second largest game reserve in the world, covering a vast 52 800 km² (20 390 square miles), an area larger than Switzerland.

The landscape is largely arid or semi-arid, and varies from open plains to salt pans and undulating sand dunes. Game viewing in the Kalahari is excellent, especially during the summer rains, when it becomes one of the best wildlife viewing spots in Botswana. The incredible diversity of the terrain allows for an abundance of wildlife and birdlife, with a fascinating array of Kalahari desert plants.
